Skillsets@FLUX, D8, Dublin

Skillsets, Digital Court, Rainsford Street, The Liberties, Dublin 8, D08 R2YP.

This is ‘Project Space 1’ of FLUX, Located in Dublin 8. FLUX Studios was established in June 2022 to continue BLOCK T’s decade long mission as a grassroots cultural organisation providing quality studio workspace to Dublin’s creative community.

Directions

Warning: Searching for ‘Flux Dublin’ on Google Maps will bring you to the wrong place, though it is nearby.

Instead, search ‘Skillsets’. This is at Digital Court, on Rainsford Street at D08 R2YP. It has a large stainless steel sign on the side of the building. You can’t miss it.

Access is via the black door on the street. If the door is not propped open, you can ring the intercom button labeled “Skillsets@Flux”.

It is wheelchair accessible.

Parking

There is some on-street car parking near the venue but it’s limited since it’s in the city centre and it’s a ‘Red Zone’ (@€2.40 /hour, MON-SAT 7am-7pm, max. 3 hours, free on Sundays). There is a multi-storey carpark about 4 minutes walk away: Thomas Street Car Park. The maximum charge there is €14.50 for the whole day (7am to 7pm). If attending the 5pm-7pm class on a Saturday, you might need to leave a few minutes early to get your car out before it closes. This carpark is closed on Sundays.

According to Parkopedia there is a good bit of free on-street parking nearby (see map below). There’s actually even more than this, even closer, on a Sunday.

Lunch

There is a small cafe called Container Cafe, around the corner at the Digital Hub. I don’t really know the area yet so I couldn’t recommend more places. I’m sure there are plenty of options. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

There is a kitchen onsite with microwave, kettle etc. so feel free to bring your own lunch.

Free on-street parking near Skillsets on a Sunday, according to Parkopedia

FLUX Studios D2, Dublin

Flux Studios D2, 4 Chatham Row, Dublin, D02 PA06.

This is ‘Project Space 2’ of FLUX, located in Dublin 2, very close to Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre.

FLUX Studios was established in June 2022 to continue BLOCK T’s decade long mission as a grassroots cultural organisation providing quality studio workspace to Dublin’s creative community.

Directions

I won’t pretend to know my way around this area, being a Mayo Culchie. But you can, of course, use Google maps to search ‘Flux Studios D2’ and you’ll find the place.

Parking

Since it’s in the city centre, parking is probably limited to paid parking facilities, unless you have local knowledge. There’s several in the area. Below is some idea of price, based on my googling but I haven’t confirmed these details myself yet.

Q-Park Dawson Street may be the best rate as far as I can tell. I was quoted €11 for 08:30 to 19:00, on a Sunday when reserving online. It’s about a 7min walk to the venue.

The Drury Street Car Park (36/37 Drury Street) has a day rate. I believe it’s €17 - €20 for the day, up until 7pm. On a Sunday however, it only opens at 10am. Online booking doesn’t seem to be working (29/2/26). It’s about a 5min walk to the venue.

Best Car Parks is open 24/7, is a 4 min walk to the venue and does a €20 day rate (online price only, 6am-12am).

Q-Park Stephen’s Green is very close but it’s expensive for the whole day (~€46). I do not recommend.

APCOA Drury Street is 24hours and also very close but likewise expensive at €4.21 per hour with no day rate.

Lunch

Plenty of options in the area. I couldn’t recommend a place. Feel free to bring a packed lunch and stay in the venue if you prefer.

The Fumbally Stables

The Fumbally Stables, Fumbally Lane, Dublin 8, D08 CP27.

Directions and Parking

In case you haven’t been to The Fumbally Stables before, you can find it beside the Fumbally Cafe on Fumbally Lane. There is street parking on Newmarket Square around the corner (Red Zone @€2.40 /hour, MON-SAT 7am-7pm, max. 3 hours) . Free parking on Sunday. There is also free parking on certain other streets in the area, including Chamber Street and Blackpitts. There is no parking on-site. There’s no doorbell at the stables but you can ring me if you need to be let in.

Lunch

The Fumbally Cafe next door is great but a bit busy and closed on Sundays. Teelings Distillery Cafe, on Newmarket Square, is serviceable and usually not busy. Two Pups is also nearby. Since it’s very much in the centre of Dublin, I’m sure there are plenty of options for food nearby at lunchtime. You’re welcome to bring a packed lunch too if you wish.
